Succulent pieces of steak & kidney covered in a delicious beefy gravy and topped by our signature puff pastry. Fray Bentos is a town in the middle of cattle country in Uruguay. In 1899 a company called Anglo began making corned beef there. Fifty years later it was a staple of the British diet, and Fray Bentos diversified into soups, meatballs and even tinned fruit! In the 1970s and 80s heavy TV advertising boosted sales. In the 90s the focus shifted to pies and puddings, which are still central to the range. Fray Bentos is synonymous with convenient, satisfying pies and puddings, with many loyal fans. Sales last year were worth over £30 million.
